Above-ground pool setup: what to check first
Garden planning
Before choosing an above-ground pool, make sure the complete setup fits your garden. The pool, its supports, equipment and safe access all need space.

Measure the whole footprint
Compare the manufacturer's assembled dimensions with the space you have, including any frame supports. Mark out room for the ladder, filter and the clearances specified in the exact model's manual. Keep a clear route between the house, pool and garden seating.
Check the base before delivery
Bestway's Fast Set guidance calls for level ground, a surface free from sharp objects and a base capable of taking the filled pool's weight. Those checks matter before filling begins. A patio or deck should not be assumed suitable simply because an empty pool fits on it.
Use the preparation requirements for your chosen model. If the load capacity or ground preparation is unclear, have it assessed before installation. A ground cloth is not a substitute for a suitable base.
Compare the complete kit
Write down what is included: pool, filter or pump, hoses, ladder, cover and ground protection. Then list any extras the manufacturer requires. Check compatible replacement filters and the correct water-care instructions rather than assuming accessories fit every pool.
Plan where equipment will sit and how the pool will be emptied. Follow the manual for electrical connections, assembly, filling and water treatment; this buying checklist does not replace those instructions.
Make safe use part of the plan
RLSS UK advises constant supervision of children by a capable adult and secure fencing to prevent unsupervised access. Tell visitors about the pool's depth and layout, and follow the manufacturer's maintenance and safety checks.
Make sure everyone knows how to call 999 in an emergency. Choose the pool and its surroundings with that day-to-day responsibility in mind.
Choose the setup that fits.
Use the individual product's dimensions, included parts and delivery information when comparing options.
