A comfortable spa corner starts with a practical layout. Compare the hot tub, its delivery route and the space needed to use and maintain it before choosing the finishing touches.
Plan the delivery route first
Get the packaged dimensions and delivery method for the exact model. Measure gates, narrow passages, corners and any steps between the delivery point and its final position. Ask what unloading and positioning include, and whether access equipment or extra people are needed.
Confirm the delivery charge for your postcode and who arranges any additional handling before ordering. A delivery date on its own does not tell you how the hot tub will reach the garden.
Leave room beyond the tub
Check the manufacturer's base requirements and full operating load. Allow the specified clearance for the pump, service access and cover removal, plus a clear route for getting in and out. Do not assume decking can support the installation without checking its capacity.
Lay-Z-Spa's Monte Carlo guidance, for example, specifies a solid, flat surface and clearance around the unit. Other models can have different requirements; use the manual for the one you are considering.
Confirm the electrical setup
Ask for the exact UK electrical requirements before purchase. Check whether the model uses an appropriate socket or needs a dedicated installation, and have any required electrical work assessed by a qualified electrician.
The Monte Carlo guide specifies an RCD-protected, earthed supply and says not to use an extension lead. Do not transfer its power rating to a different hot tub: follow that model's manual and installation requirements.
Budget for everyday ownership
Compare the purchase price with base preparation, electrical work, delivery, a suitable cover, replacement filters and water-care supplies. Ask how any quoted running-cost estimate was calculated, including the tariff, weather and usage assumptions.
Read the maintenance schedule and warranty terms. Check who handles servicing and damage reports, and what the returns process involves. Keep towels and dry storage within easy reach without obstructing equipment or access.
